We believe in ecologically responsible timber harvests.

Our guiding principles are to practice harvests based on New England’s ecology and disturbance regimes, to integrate our harvests with the spatial context and history of the land, and to give back to the forest.

You can read our Forest Ethic and how we approach our work in the woods.

Our equipment is only as big as it needs to be.

We have spent 10 years pursuing equipment that allows us to economically harvest timber in the most woods-sensitive manner. It can look pretty big - but trees are heavy and environmental conditions and invasive pests are causing hand felling to become more dangerous. So we balance effectiveness with impact and have a set of very purpose-built machines.

Field & Lot clearing:

New Hampshire is about 85% forested: sometimes there are just too many trees. If you’re expanding gardens, needing more light for solar panels, or clearing land for your dream homestead, we can work with you to both remove the trees and leave the remaining woods healthy and attractive.

As described by a former customer: this is a perfect solution when you want your house lot to look more natural than a new construction dropped into a bomb crater.
